CKEditor 3 spell checking configuration

In CKEditor 3 there are two ways of spell checking, the native mode of the browser which is active in textarea boxes (only for Firefox and Safari at this time) or the SCAYT (SpellCheckAsYouType) module, which is free but ad-supported for CKEditor users.

To enable or disable your preferred CKEditor spell checker you need to add the followings in the configuration file of the editor located here: ckeditor/config.js

CKEDITOR.editorConfig = function( config )
   // Disables the built-in spell checker while typing natively available in the browser (currently Firefox and Safari only).
    config.disableNativeSpellChecker = true;

    // If enabled (true), turns on SCAYT (SpellCheckAsYouType) automatically after loading the editor.
    config.scayt_autoStartup = true;

To keep the browser native spell checker reverse the values:

config.disableNativeSpellChecker = false;
config.scayt_autoStartup = false;

To completely disable spell checking:

config.disableNativeSpellChecker = true;
config.scayt_autoStartup = false;
